YSA MAGIS Programme
Introduction
Magi: Latin for ‘more; better; fuller’
It is a word frequently used in Ignatian Spirituality by its founder St Ignatius of Loyola to describe how one may find God in all things and how that can enable one to be a more authentic Christian and hence serve the Lord even more zealously.
The YSA Magis Programme is adapted from the Magis Pre-World Youth Day Programme run by the Jesuits internationally since 1997 for every World Youth Day. The programme consists of Ignatian Experiments which separates into several categories. These experiments aim to push an individual out of their comfort zone or to explore even farther what they may have been comfortable with. The programme is moulded so as to enable each participant to experience whatever it is that the Heavenly Father has in store for him/her.
Each experiment will include scripture reflection, the examen (an Ignatian prayer of examining one’s conscience), as well as sharing groups called the Magis Circles, and usually end or begin with the celebration of the Eucharist.
